“ I’m not  painting or calligraphy but rather I’m leaving an enlightening message.”

Kelvin came to Hong Kong with his mother when he was five years old. He was apprenticed to teacher Liu Shiao who originates from the Lingnan School of Traditional Chinese Painting.

He was then referred to the Master of the Lingnan School, Mr. Zhao Shaoang, who personally taught him and improved his skills. Zhao Shao'ang (1905-1998) was a prominent Chinese artist and one of the most celebrated flower-and-bird painters of his generation.  At age of seven, Kelvin was inspired in calligraphy by his father, Kwan Po Kui, member of Guangdong Calligrapher’s Association. Throughout his childhood, he studied traditional Chinese studies, poetry, literary aesthetics, seal carving and other national arts. 

At high school, he won many public competition awards, and the principal and teachers unanimously praised him and opened  calligraphy and exhibition at school, which further developed his artistic direction. After graduating from university with a Bachelor of Social Work, Kelvin, as a Christian,  aimed to engage in artistic and cultural work and he hoped to carry positive messages to society. Kelvin Collections was established on January 1, 2001, as a spiritual enterprise, espousing the idea that “every artist is small but important, just like the mustard seed.”  Over 40 years, his works often give people a sense of simplicity, freshness and hope. He often sees the needs of others, which is expressed in his works and resonates and nourishes others’ hearts.

關嘉亮，書法 嘉，祖籍廣東省南海人，五歲隨母來香港定居。自幼手巧心靈，頗好翰墨，自少從香港著名書畫家劉思浩老師習書畫，後經轉介獲嶺南派宗師趙少昂先生親自指點賜教。他的作品「簡潔樸拙」常予人簡約、清新及盼望之感。天賦一夥敏銳的心，使他常看到人心的需要，表現在作品上，引起共鳴，滋潤心田。

書藝方面，七歲受爸爸 (關寶渠，廣東省書法家協會會員) 所薰陶，自幼學習涉獵中國傳統國學、詩詞歌賦、文藝美學、篆刻托裱等國藝，自小臨摹百家如顏真卿、蘇東坡、趙孟頫、王羲之、董其昌、于又任等逾40年之久。高中時候，已獲不少公開比賽獎項，校長老師們一致推崇，並在學校裏開設書法課程及展覽，因而開啟了藝術之路。

大學畢業後（社會工作學學士），有志於從事文化藝術工作，一心想藉創作去傳遞正面訊息。2001年1月1日創立『芥菜種Kelvin Collections』基督教禮品企業。芥菜種比喻微小卻重要，好像每一個藝術家，微小卻重要一樣。

憑過去20多年努力，成為香港著名的福音品牌，更被喻為當代心靈禮品的先軀。後期更多與母親鄭儀珠一起研究把嶺南畫藝演活，合作推廣經典書畫文創工作。

今天，關嘉亮揉合了四十多年的書法心得、融合香港中西文化及生活上的歷練，加上自家創作的心靈插畫，遂成了自家的哲道風格。
